I have been a fan of toys for all of my life and when most kids started to get away from buying toys I still found them amazing, fun and fascinating. These small pieces of plastic unlock untold amounts of imagination inside minds of young and old alike, but over the years originality in the toy world has become somewhat of a rare commodity.
With that being said, the purpose of this blog is simple: seek out toys that are original ideas, shine a light on them and share them with the world. I will be doing this in two different ways:
1) Showing pictures of the toys and scans of the packaging with some written information accompanying it.
2) Making videos of the toys in action to show people how they actually move (because pictures can only show so much).
The first toy line that I will be covering in the coming weeks is one I hold near and dear to my heart: Fisher-Price's Great Adventures. This toy line debuted in 1994 with the Great Adventures Castle play set and captivated the imaginations of children until around 2000-2001. In that 6-7 year run they ran the gamut and touched on many of the quintessential toy genres with Medieval, Pirate, Western & even Egyptian Mummy sets. The sculpting, the depth of character and fun that permeates all the toys in this series are really not done justice with my words so you are all in for a treat.
I am very happy to be able to share this line with all of you, like Indiana Jones said in 'Last Crusade': "This belongs in a museum!" and I believe by me documenting it in this way, that's me preserving this line for future generations of toy fans to enjoy. Keep your eyes peeled here and over on our Facebook page for updates we get going on all of this. Take care and come back soon!
